Director: Karan Johar
Cast: Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra,

The day I went to watch this movie, I was amazed to see packed theatre and I realised that ohh yeah! the audience has changed and is ready to accept a movie with fresh flowers. Karan Johar better known for making family dramas and romance is back again with a triangle love story with loads of drama which reminds me of “kuch kuch hota hai”. He risks all the way round by introducing three new talents- Varun, Sidharth and Alia and successfully proves a statement ‘No risk, No gain’.
The story revolves around two competitive students Rohan (Varun) and Abhimanyu (Sidharth) who fights their way out to win the most prestigious ‘student of the year’ trophy and Shanaya (Alia Bhatt) acts as their love interest and the reason for the conflict in the plot which adds to their competitiveness.
SOTY is not a new story and a realistic script- two most popular boys falling in love with the same girl and competing for one trophy. Even the characters are known- Rohan, a spoilt brat becomes friends with a garib bechara ladkaafter some small fights. Shanaya’s character reminds me of Poo(Kareena) from K3G.
This is certainly not Kjo’s best but he has done a splendid job when it comes to showcasing the acting skills of these three debutants. I could hear the oooohhsss and aaaahhsss from audience when these debutants flaunted their body. All the other characters in the movie have played their part to the best of their abilities.
All in all, Student of the year is not one of best movies I have watched but yet I would say it is worth your money. Release yourself from khans, Kumar, Devgan and Kapoors’ magic spell and I can bet you will fall in ‘ishq wala love’  with these charming debutants. For all the entertainment lovers, this is not a movie to be missed.
