Your tummy deserves good food and that's exactly what Bombay Buddha Bowls at SodaBottleOpenerWala promises

SodaBottleOpenerWala is back with another food festival for its patrons and trust me when I say – you wouldn’t want to miss out on this, not for the sake of your tummy who deserves some good food. This time SBOW has collaborated with renowned food consultant and blogger Rushina Munshaw Ghildiyal to launch hearty bowls concept called Bombay Buddha Bowls, which are single portion full-meals stuffed to the brim in bowls shaped like Buddha’s belly.

It intends to bring alive the food culture of communities, who have made Bombay their home since decades and even centuries. Every bowl consist of select dishes, which are indigenous to these communities. Maharashtrian, Sindhi and Gujarati bowls along with Chef de Cuisine at SodaBottleOpenerWala - Danesh Vakshoor’s East Indian bowl are on offer during this one-month pop-up from 3rd November to 17th of December, 2017 at our Bangalore outlet.

All four bowls on the menu represents the essence of a particular community. A pat on the back to the whole team for putting together the concept of Bombay Buddha Bowls. Be it Maharashtrian, Gujarati, Sindhi or East Indian Bowl, each one of them is unique in their own way. So no matter which bowl you choose, you will have a happy tummy and smile on your face. Well, no one would complain if you laugh like Buddha.

There were two bowls that stood out for me and for which I will come back again soon.

East Indian Bowl

Inspired by Bandra’s East Indian food culture, this bowl simply puts together all the dishes, which make for a staple meal. Wedding rice and Pork vindaloo combine with the crunchy Bombil fry along with golden fried Chicken potato chops. Kanji Curried Vegetables fits in as the gravy element with Sautéed Veggies and carrot acting as the greens. Finally, Papaya pickle placed on the side completes the meal.

The pork vindaloo is the true hero of this dish. Undoubtedly, the best pork I have had ever. The cooking of the meat, the burst of flavours, the perfection of spices – everything was on point.

Gujarati Bowl

Inspired by, what Rushina termed as 'Gujarati Pasta' as a child, this bowl takes the pasta aspect of the dal dhokli into a fun spin. This bowl consists of fenugreek and potato stuffed ravioli dhoklis, accompanied by all the essential trimmings with a twist such as a wilted onion salad, greens, boria marcha drizzle and a candied peanut relish (for all those who love the peanuts in dal dhokli).

It is brought together with a silky dal spicy sweet and tangy dal sauce and finished with a papad cheese crumble.
